Wooden Board of Mixed Cheeses, Pear and Olives

A relaxed cheese board with contrasts in every corner: mild sliced and cubed yellow cheeses, a creamy wedge of blue, crisp pear fans, a bowl of green olives and vines of cherry tomatoes. Add a little mustard on the side and it is ready for a lazy weekend lunch.

Method 6 steps

  1. Take the cheeses out of the fridge 45 minutes before serving so their flavors open up.

  2. Toss the pear slices gently with lemon juice to keep them from browning, then fan them at one end of a long wooden board.

  3. Set the blue cheese wedge beside the pear and overlap the thin slices of mild cheese down the center.

  4. Pile the Gouda cubes in a neat cluster and stand the Gouda wedge upright at the far end.

  5. Place the olives in a small glass bowl on the board and lay the tomato vines alongside, with the mustard in a dish nearby.

  6. Provide a separate knife for the blue cheese and serve.
