Recipes & Cooking
Why do some recipes show a lock icon?
The lock marks a premium recipe. About half of the Blackrock Recipes library is free to everyone, and the other half is reserved for members. You can still see the title, photo, and short description of a locked recipe, but the full ingredient list and method open only when you are signed in with an active Monthly or Annual membership.
Who develops and tests the recipes?
Every recipe is written and cooked by our own test kitchen team, then cooked again by a second person who follows only the written instructions. If the second cook hesitates, guesses, or gets a different result, we rewrite the step and test again. We cook on ordinary home ranges with standard supermarket ingredients, so what works for us should work in your kitchen.
Can I swap ingredients for allergies or dietary preferences?
Many recipes include substitution notes for common swaps such as dairy-free butter, gluten-free flour blends, or a different protein. Baking is less forgiving than stovetop cooking, so swaps in cakes and breads can change texture and rise. If you cook for someone with a serious allergy, always check every product label yourself, because brands change formulas and may share equipment with allergens.
My bake did not turn out like the photo. What usually goes wrong?
The three most common causes are measuring flour by scooping (which packs in extra flour), an oven that runs hot or cold, and ingredients used straight from the fridge when the recipe asks for room temperature. An inexpensive oven thermometer and a kitchen scale fix most problems. If you followed the recipe closely and something still seems off, tell us through the contact form and we will take a look.
Can I share a premium recipe with friends or post it online?
You are welcome to cook premium recipes for anyone you like and to send friends a link to the recipe page. Please do not copy the full text or photos onto another website, a group chat archive, or a printed collection for sale. Membership fees are what pay for recipe testing, so republishing premium content directly hurts our ability to keep making it.
How do I report a mistake in a recipe?
Send us a note through the contact form with the recipe name and the step or ingredient that looks wrong. Our test kitchen reads every report, rechecks the recipe against our testing notes, and corrects the page if needed. Contact form messages are stored so the team can reply to you directly, usually within two business days, at the email address you provide.
Membership & Billing
What does a membership include and how much does it cost?
A membership unlocks every premium recipe in the Blackrock Recipes library, including new premium recipes as they are published. There are two plans: Monthly at USD 9.99 per month, and Annual at USD 99.99 per year. Both plans include exactly the same recipe access. The Annual plan simply costs less over a full year than paying month by month.
Do I need an account to subscribe?
Yes. Your membership is attached to your Blackrock Recipes account, which is how the site knows to unlock premium recipes when you sign in. Creating an account takes an email address and a password, and you must be at least 16 years old. Once you are signed in, choose a plan on the membership page and complete payment at checkout.
How do I cancel my Monthly membership?
You can cancel a Monthly membership at any time. After you cancel, you keep full premium access until the end of the month you already paid for, and you will not be charged again. We do not issue partial refunds for unused days in a monthly period. If you need help cancelling, email info@blackrock52.com from the address on your account.
Can I get a refund on an Annual membership?
Yes, within a clear window. If you request a refund within 14 days of buying an Annual membership, or within 14 days of an annual renewal charge, we refund the full amount to your original payment method and end premium access. After 14 days the annual charge is non-refundable, but your access continues through the end of the paid year.
Where can I check whether my membership is active?
Sign in and open your account page. It shows your current membership status, which plan you are on, and when your paid period ends. If you have paid but recipes still show a lock, sign out and back in to refresh your session. If that does not fix it, contact us at info@blackrock52.com and include the email address on your account.
Store & Orders
What does the Blackrock Recipes store sell?
The store carries the tools and ingredients our test kitchen actually uses: kitchen tools like thermometers, spatulas, and knives; cookware such as skillets and Dutch ovens; bakeware including sheet pans and loaf tins; tableware for serving; and pantry goods like spices, flours, and specialty ingredients. We only stock items we have cooked with, and many product pages link to recipes that use them.
How is sales tax calculated at checkout?
Checkout shows an estimated sales tax of 6 percent on your order subtotal, so you can see an approximate total before paying. The tax line appears alongside your shipping charge, which is a flat 6.95 USD or free when your order reaches 75 USD. The final amount charged is the total displayed on your order confirmation.
Is my card information safe?
Card payments are taken at checkout, and Blackrock Recipes never stores your full card number. For your order records we keep only the card brand and the last four digits, which is enough for you to recognize the card on your receipt and for our team to help with a billing question. Your account password is stored hashed, never in plain text.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?
Orders usually ship within 2 business days, so contact us as soon as possible at info@blackrock52.com or +1 (917) 624-4812 with your order number. If the order has not been packed yet, we can change the items or shipping address, or cancel it for a full refund. Once an order has shipped, you can return eligible items under our 30-day return policy instead.
Where can I see my past orders?
When you are signed in, your account page lists your order history, including the order date, the items you bought, the total paid, and the card brand and last four digits used. Keep your order number handy when you contact us about a delivery or a return, because it lets our customer care team find your order right away.
Shipping & Returns
Where do you ship and how much does it cost?
We currently ship to addresses within the United States only. Shipping is a flat 6.95 USD per order, and it is free on any order of 75 USD or more before tax. We are not able to ship to international addresses or accept orders placed with a non-US shipping address at this time.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Most orders leave our warehouse within 2 business days of being placed. After that, delivery typically takes 3 to 7 business days depending on where you live. Orders placed on weekends or holidays begin processing on the next business day. Heavy cookware, such as cast iron, can sit toward the longer end of that delivery range.
What is your return policy?
You can return unused items in their original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Email info@blackrock52.com with your order number to start a return, and we will send instructions. Once the return arrives and is inspected, we refund your original payment method, and the money usually appears within 5 to 10 business days depending on your card issuer.
My item arrived damaged or does not work. What should I do?
Report it within 7 days of delivery by emailing info@blackrock52.com with your order number and a photo of the damage or defect, plus the shipping box if it was crushed. We will send a replacement or issue a refund, whichever you prefer, and you will not pay return shipping for a damaged or defective item.
Can I return pantry goods?
Unopened pantry items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery like any other product. Once a food or pantry item has been opened, it is final sale for food safety reasons and cannot be returned. The exception is damage: if a jar arrives broken or a package is spoiled, report it within 7 days for a replacement or refund.
Account & Privacy
I forgot my password. How do I get back in?
Use the forgot-password link on the sign-in page and enter the email address on your account. We will send a link that lets you choose a new password. The link expires after a short time, so use it promptly. Because passwords are stored hashed, nobody at Blackrock Recipes can look up or email you your old password.
How old do I need to be to create an account?
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Blackrock Recipes account, buy a membership, or place a store order under your own account. Younger cooks are very welcome to use our free recipes with a parent or guardian, and an adult can create an account and share the recipes with the family kitchen.
What cookies does the site use?
Very few. We set one essential session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects forms with security tokens. Your shopping cart and your choice to dismiss the cookie notice are saved in your own browser's local storage. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies of any kind. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
Do you sell my information or track me across other sites?
No. BLACKROCK 52 LLC does not sell or rent your personal information, and the site runs no advertising or tracking scripts. We use your details to run your account, deliver orders, and reply to messages. Recipe and product photos load from the Pexels image CDN, which, like any web image host, receives your IP address when the image is requested.
How do I delete my account or get a copy of my data?
Email info@blackrock52.com from the address on your account and tell us what you need. We will confirm the request and either send a copy of the information we hold about you or delete your account. Some order records must be kept for tax and accounting reasons for a limited time, and we will explain exactly what is retained.
