Recipe Developer and Test Kitchen Cook
You will create, cook, and retest the recipes that fill the Blackrock Recipes library, from quick weeknight dinners to weekend baking projects. The job is equal parts creativity and discipline: a great idea only goes live after it works reliably for a home cook with ordinary equipment.
Pay range: $58,000 - $70,000
What you will do
- Develop 6 to 10 new recipes per month across free and premium collections, from concept through final written method
- Cook each recipe multiple times, recording weights, times, temperatures, and variations in shared testing notes
- Cross-test colleagues' recipes by following the written instructions exactly and flagging unclear or unreliable steps
- Write clear ingredient lists, substitution notes, and make-ahead guidance in the Blackrock Recipes house style
- Style finished dishes on set with the food photographer and prepare backup components for shoots
- Evaluate cookware, tools, and pantry goods under consideration for the store and report on real kitchen performance
- Review reader error reports from customer care and correct published recipes when needed
What you bring
- 3 or more years of professional cooking, recipe development, or test kitchen experience
- Strong baking fundamentals, including an understanding of how ingredient ratios affect structure and texture
- Precise, organized written communication and comfort documenting every test
- Food handler certification or willingness to obtain it within 30 days of starting

Food Photographer
We are looking for a food photographer who can make a pot of beans look as inviting as a layer cake. You will shoot hero images and step-by-step process photos for new recipes and product photography for the store, working on set in our test kitchen two to three days a week and editing remotely.
Pay range: $55 - $75 per hour
What you will do
- Plan and shoot hero, process, and detail images for 20 to 30 recipes per month
- Photograph store products in clean catalog style and in lifestyle settings that show them in use
- Collaborate with recipe developers on shot lists, props, surfaces, and timing so dishes are photographed at their best
