Stovetop White Cheddar Macaroni
No oven and no fuss, just elbow macaroni stirred into a velvety white cheddar sauce that stays creamy right down to the last forkful. A pinch of mustard powder sharpens the cheese flavor, and a handful of shredded orange cheddar on top melts slowly into the pale, glossy noodles.

-
Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until just al dente, then drain and set aside.
-
In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat and whisk in the flour. Cook 1 to 2 minutes, whisking, until it smells toasty but stays pale.
-
Gradually whisk in the warm milk and simmer 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens enough to coat a spoon.
-
Take the pot off the heat and stir in the white cheddar a handful at a time until smooth. Season with mustard powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
-
Fold in the macaroni and warm over low heat for 1 minute, loosening with a splash of milk if needed.
-
Spoon into bowls and scatter the orange cheddar over the top.
Tap a step to mark it done.
