Red Wine Sangria by the Pitcher
Fruity red wine steeped with oranges, apples and a splash of brandy until it turns juicy and mellow. Chilled for a few hours, the sangria tastes like spiced berries and citrus, with the soaked fruit becoming a treat of its own. Mix a pitcher ahead and set it out for relaxed patio afternoons.

-
Stir the brown sugar into the brandy, orange liqueur and orange juice in a large pitcher until dissolved.
-
Add the orange slices, diced apple and cinnamon stick, then press the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon to release some juice.
-
Pour in the wine, stir well, cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to overnight so the fruit flavors meld.
-
Just before serving, remove the cinnamon stick, add the ice and top with the soda water.
-
Pour into wine glasses with a few pieces of wine-soaked fruit in each and serve with long spoons or straws.
